Txaaa first of all sorry for the lack of updates, guess vacation+lots of stuff, makes me kinda dull, still there is a new panchira and it is coming, so i'll give you a bit of an update

Everything is going to be worked out, although the biggest problem now is the social network software that i'll be choosing, there are several, but im still on the fence with all of them as well as i'm not too inclined on the paid ones, not that i cant afford (i can), but im not too sure in the long term future of those, as well as updates and security fixes, so i'm mostly thinking about open source software, but most of those are still too young or lack all the features we want, so i'm working on it...

Humm and yes like i promised all the basic features HAVE to be there or at least available, so yeah gallery, profiles, videos... all that stuff, i wont take the trouble to change dramatically panchira if we are not all getting that stuff

So what have i been doing?

Well panchira actually has a new server, 2x100gb hard drive, 10mbps unlimited line (so video bandwith wont kill me heheheh), lots of ram and stuff, so yes we are moving forward with this, i wouldnt be paying if i wasnt confident

Also i've been testing the merger of the old panchira with hentaish and thats also working out good, but i'll give more details later, suffice to say that it will come with a bit of a reworking of hentaish as well heheheh, so lots of stuff and lots of news, sure i wanted to have this done in late october, or this month, but some stuff take time, better to think it well and do it better than go overboard and then we got shit

right... RIGHT!!!!

ohh on a sidenote, anyone can always contact me about this or whatever, i'm usually on the chat, you can get me by pm here or on the contact page on hentaish... so although i'm not super-posting doesn't mean i'm not around heheheh

i'm not in a hurry, if i had a good social network software the site would probably already be online by now, but i'm waiting for final versions to emerge and thinking about the alternatives, and as of now i have 4 opensource solutions and 2 paid solutions, but all of them are still not perfect or i'm not too sure yet, cause i want one with a future, but also one that has all the features we want as well as good performance and easy to upgrade,

hell i could improve smf (the software we are using now for panchira), although its a forum software there are some "social plugins" and some other interesting stuff, but the problem is that any update/plugin/hack involves a lot of code changing, that is, you add a plugin and it actually changes core code, that means to upgrade you have to de-activate the plugins and hope they put the code back together properly and then update and then... see hacking away, that's why the site has already several smallish nagging problems (and this site has a custom theme and 3 plugins.. THREEE and already has problems) and in my view has no future, now compare that with something like wordpress, in wordpress i can hack away all happy because to upgrade you just overwrite the core files and that's it, themes and plugins and content are separate from the software that runs everything, thats cool and one of the reasons why wordpress is such a success, hehehe

Be careful to read more into them "unlimited" lines, a lot of them have whats called hidden text in the contracts you agree to when you pay it hehehe... such as, you can't exceed xx% cp usage; you can't have more than xxxxxx users at once; etc etc. i've seen em all >.<; so just make sure your getting the right server

ahhh right right, but thats for shared hosting zairs, i'm paying for a 10Mbps (thats megabytes, not megabits...) dedicated line, that means hummm if its used to its maximum ALL THE TIME, it can do about 3210GB per month (3TB+), so there is a limit, also if we receive, i don't know 1000 users at one point (all downloading pictures and videos), i'm sure the site would slow down considerably cause the pipe is only 10Mbps, but for all intents and purposes its unlimited, cause i don't need to concern myself if you guys download a lot or very little, its not like it has 2TB and you guys download 3TB and i get a huge bill for added bandwidth hehehe so thats why i say unlimited, in the sense that the line is all ours and we can use all of it without worries

so it has nothing to do with how much cpu i use or memory

and i can always upgrade to 20Mbps or 100Mbps or whatever later on... hehehe

Yes, I know shared hosting does that indefinitely, but some dedicated ones do that as well, for they claim it can "damadge the server" <- i've ran off a dedicated one like that before >.< <- can't remember the name of the site, if I do i'll tell ya, haha.

goodluck with setup and all that heh; can be a pain depending on the server.

", yes i know, thats why i repeated myself and took care to write it properly, since you are being all technical on me heheheheh, also, every site has to depend on his server or server like setup, the trick is find a good service provider and make the proper arrangements to make it all work good

also i dont need luck, what i need is time, always time hehehe

Also, I think it's nice to take your time fiend.
If i were in your place i could never do it. i would probably rush...

witch would be a totally bad thing because it all might just mess up.

Im very impatient at doing things that take extreme time.

plus, i learned alot of stuff of what you and zairs was talking about.
